Leeds: Needs Assessments

Needs Assessments are about understanding the requirements of the Leeds population to deliver a city where people are earning, learning, healthy, safe, and engaged.
Leeds is a growing city and many people have benefited from the success of the city’s economy over the last two decades, both within the city and beyond in neighbouring localities.
We have an ageing population and as the baby-boomer generation grows older there will be a range of implications that the city will need to address.

Strategic needs assessments (SNA) are a shared understanding of the current and future needs and assets of the local population to inform planning, resource allocation and commissioning decisions.

Many needs assessments are produced in Leeds across a range of policy areas such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) which aims to provide an understanding of key health and wellbeing needs and inequalities across and within Leeds.

In the future we aim to coordinate needs assessments to harness the power and insight of these pieces of work, bringing together a better understanding of the needs and assets of communities in Leeds.
